  • Prize: 18-Piece Airtight Food Storage Containers [ARV $120]

  • Odds: For every 80 Ducky Tran premium members by the time of judging, I will give out one (1) 18-Piece Storage Set

  • Contest Period: May 22, 2024 at 10 AM CST to May 28, 2024 at 10 PM CST

This week’s focus is time wealth. I discuss it depth in the Accessible Core; however, the ease of doing tasks can contribute to your perception of having more time. Simply by being more organized and having food clearly displayed can actually improve time perception.

These push-to-open, airtight containers are extremely useful and space-efficient. They’re my favorite type of storage I have at home. I use them for cereals, pastas, and some snacks. I am tempted to get more all the time because I just love the organization it provides while being ergonomic.

This week I’m giving out an 18-Piece set of these storage containers. This should be enough to organize most pantries. Hopefully this is not only providing some organization but give you back some time by making it easier to find your snacks.

The Superpremium

This week’s Superpremium topic is Taverna Irene. This wonderful restaurant is located in Chorafakia, Crete. Not only is the food amazing (see pictures below), but the ambiance is one of the best on the entire island. Often when I came to eat at the tavern, the outdoor seating would be full of guests. The chatter made it feel like the center of a small town and everyone around were neighbors. The staff are used to tourists and are quite welcoming and hospitable.

Doesn’t that look like a good time?!

Every time I had multiple food items as their menu is quite extensive, and every item I’ve ordered were fresh and delicious. My favorites were the meat platter and octopus. This may not still be true since I haven’t visited Irene’s for a few years now, but on my first visit, I had asked for Cognac. I was told that I was the only person that have asked for Cognac for years, so I was offered an amazing deal I couldn’t refuse. I was offered a pour of cognac for 3 Euros (about $3), but received an entire wine glass full.

Like most Cretian establishments, the service is usually very generous, but at Irene’s it was more than that. The ambiance, food, and people just made it a vacation spot to remember.

The Premium Core

This week’s Premium Core topic is the Wet&Forget Shower Cleaner. No one likes to spend their entire weekend scrubbing and cleaning. What if you can clean while sleeping? That’s what Wet&Forget Shower Cleaner allows you to do.

That portion really sounded like a commercial, but it’s actually me. I really like this product! It saves a lot of time scrubbing the showers. You just spray the areas to be cleaned, go to sleep, and then rinse it off in the morning.

With the amount of time we spend in the showers, we need to keep it clean. The moisture and water content can cause mold, mildew, and mineral build-up on our grout, glass, and tiles. If you are looking for an easier way to clean the showers, check out the deal this week to save some time.

Deal #1: I’m offering a discount on a 64oz bottle of Wet&Forget Shower Cleaner (fresh scent) at shop.duckytran.com. It is normally $21, but the deal is only $10. There will be 5 available so get it while you can.

Time Perception

In previous issues, I’ve mentioned how the idea of time wealth is having free time to do what you want. However, even if given the same amount of free time, everyone will still have a different feeling about it. In this issue, I will reveal some interesting findings about perception of time and how we do things as a child and what we currently do as adults can affect our perception of time.

This study that we will simplify in this article breakdown five (5) “dimensions” that were measured: sufficient time, unhurried pace, plannability, sovereignty, and synchronization.

  1. Sufficient Time: Or “free time” is considered the underlying factor of the overall construct of time wealth. Therefore, the other dimensions influence how much sufficient time you have as well as how it affects your life. Being affected by other dimensions, sufficient time tends to present a “U” type of correlation graph. Where low or high sufficient time tends to have a positive effect, but mid-sufficient time tends to have a negative effect on an individual’s perception of time. More on this dimension after exploring the others.

  2. Unhurried Pace: Or having adequate time to do an activity. Specifically, this can be having not to rush to do an activity, or doing an activity quickly to get it done. Both are seen as the same as long as the person does not feel rushed. The second part may seem counterintuitive, but an example is when someone has learned to type really fast and so they type super-fast to complete an essay. The act of typing fast may not be stressful to this person, but because they’re skilled they can do the task really fast.

  3. Plannability: Or meeting your expectations or being able to guess what’s next. This is the factor that is most intriguing because it has the highest degree of negative correlation to a person’s satisfaction when it comes to perception of time. You would like that being able to guest what’s next and plan your day makes time move the way you want; however, the study shows that high plannability has led to multitasking to a degree that makes you feel dissatisfied and knowing what’s next tends to make you anticipate something further in the future as closer, making you feel like you have less time.

  4. Sovereignty: Or self-induced conditions. The best example is waking yourself up every morning for work, even though you would like another hour of sleep, you make yourself wake up to be on-time for work. Again, even though you are in control, higher levels of sovereignty have a negative impact on your perception of time. Similar to plannability, because when you have control generally you are going against what is natural which makes it feel like a forced thing diminishing the “free time” you have to “work time” or “I have to do it time”.

  5. Synchronization: Or being able to fit things into your schedule properly. This is when you wake up naturally without an alarm when you want to. Or when you have a doctor's appointment that fits in perfectly between your yoga session and lunch. When there’s not too many overlapping issues, or forced time scheduling changes, things feel natural and flowy, giving the perception of “the right amount of time”.

Now let me put it all together and reveal to you the interesting things that can be concluded:

  1. Waking up early: Our environment, like school or work, requires us to adhere to specific time schedules. So, if we sync our, or our children’s, circadian rhythm to wake up during an earlier hour so that they do not require alarms to wake them up in the future, we can feel like we have more sufficient time. This is because we will not be rushed in the morning to get ready, not feel like we need to plan to wake up since it’s natural, waking up early being natural will feel not self-induced, and it will fit right into our morning schedule. Resulting in a more positive outlook on time wealth.

  2. Complete one task at a time: We already know we can’t actually do many things at one time, but thinking about multiple tasks is different. We should focus on a single task until it is complete, this will make us feel like we have more sufficient time. This is because we won’t feel rushed by other tasks, by focusing on one thing there is no expectation of another task in the future, the time spent on the one task will feel intentional without being forced to complete a series of tasks in the same time, and since you’ll finish that one task when you get to the end, it will feel like the time was allotted just for that specific task. Resulting in a more positive outlook on time wealth.

  3. Be spontaneous: No, this doesn’t mean live based on an 8-ball suggestion. But let’s say you’re on vacation, leave a day or two without planning anything, just explore the city you’re in or wonder the markets to find something interesting, you will have more sufficient time. This is because you don’t feel rushed to do any specific task, not planning the day, not self-imposing conditions, and any task you do will fit in the open schedule. Resulting in a more positive outlook on time wealth.

I’ll leave the revelation to those three, but I bet you can think of more already. Based on these principles, you can easier make your life feel freer and fuller of time, even if you have the same exact time you have today. Try it out, you will be amazed by how you will perceive time.

Issue 26 Community Poll Results

This last week’s poll results:

  1. Nearly everyone voted that they were equally as busy or busier compared to 1-year ago. This was what I expected since people don’t change schedules very often in the United States, which has a stringent work hours.

  2. 75% of you said you would devote an extra hour to sleep if given the chance. I wonder if even given an extra hour, if people would still want another?

  3. No one gave me any topics to cover on this last poll. I’ll be asking for topics in the future again once I cover some more specific topics that may peak some of your interests.
